     The very concept of an old age home is not new to India. An old age home is usually the place, a home for those old people who have no one to look after them or those who have been thrown out of their homes by their children. It is a fact that the many of aged are seen in the street, railway station in extremely critical condition. May be very few are noticed and most of them are not come into public notice and even they are to lose their life without any care. Besides this, since the women have started working out of homes, there is now, no one to look after the routine needs of the elders at home. Also, with the women working out, their attitudes towards the elders as their duty but as useless appendages in the family.
      For the dire need of the locality and heartfelt realisation of one of the founder members of Village Welfare Society had shaped the dream into reality setting up an Old Age Home in 1993. It is located at Pancharul, Udaynarayanpur – block of Howrah district, partly sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, under the scheme of IPSrC (now under NAPSrC – National Action Plan for Senior Citizens) and it is partly by the Village Welfare Society own.

Anandam, a premier old age home/ retirement residence in Pancharul, is a home away from home for elderly people. We are committed to extend love, attention and homely care to the elderly people: things which they need the most at this age. We offer a continuum of assured lifetime care for every resident with access to health care services, food, personal assistance (if requested), round the clock common floor attendant, security, maintenance, housekeeping, linen services, wellness, and entertainment. Our primary objective is to bring them happiness and peace, and to serve them with utmost care, making each day joyous and fulfilling.

Vision

Having Served their families and the society all life long, old age is the phase of life when people deserve more affection and care than ever. Sometimes they need special care/ medical attention and it becomes difficult for their family to invest the needed time, given their busy work schedules. We make an endeavor to bridge this gap. Anandam was built with the vision to provide this much needed mental and physical comfort to the elderly people. We look after all their needs and cater to them to the best of our abilities, providing personal care at every step. We have always strived to create a homely atmosphere, so as to make them miss their families a little less. The visitors or family members of our residents are always welcome to visit and spend time with them.

Mission

‘Anandam’ was established with the primitive mission of providing senior citizens with homely care away from home. Our furnished rooms and quality services help them to spend their days in leisure, in the company of other inmates. The boarders of ‘Anandam’ live like a family, and are showered with love, care and attention. Our aim is to ensure that our boarders never feel lonely or unattended.
